Robert “Bob” Kinney was born and raised in Norwalk, Connecticut. As a young boy, Bob would sneak to a nearby manufacturing company where a man with a distinctive Russian accent would chase Bob and his friends away. Bob believes the man with the Russian accent was the father of the modern helicopter, the late Igor Sikorsky.
Bob spent his entire life using his hands to build anything and everything he could fathom. He has built airplanes, Queen-Ann furniture, homes, cars (including a Lamborghini and a Rolls Royce), a biodiesel refinery, and the worlds first Hot Rod Helicopter, appropriately named the Kinney HRH.
The Kinney HRH has gone on to win many awards including the "Outstanding New Design" in 2002 at the Sun 'n Fun fly-In; and "Best Rotorcraft" in 2001 at the EAA East Coast Regional Fly-In.
In 2006, Bob unveiled the Xzilarator to the world, fascinating thousands of curious people. Since its appearance at the 2007 Bike Week in Daytona, Florida, hundreds of fans have bought plans for the Xzilarator and have built their own.
Bob currently lives in Pennsylvania with his girlfriend Linda. When Bob is not busy inventing new ways to make the world a greener place to live, he spends time with his daughter, freelance writer, Tina Marie Frawley.
