How great will it be to make high-quality biodiesel fuel in your garage?
It would be wonderful! By making your own biodiesel you are saving money and the environment at once!
How simple is the process? Very! Even if you have never built anything before, these easy to use plans will make building the processor a snap. This is something you will be very proud of for many years to come.
By taking used fryer oil from local restaurants, you can use your biodiesel processor to turn it into fuel!
Once your unit is complete (which is possible to finish in a weekend), you will follow a few simple steps before pumping your biodiesel into your cars (diesel engine required), home heating system, tractors, generators, or anything else you have running on a diesel engine.

Do I need to make any modification to my engine to use my home-made biodiesel?
No! You can use your homemade biodiesel the same as you would use purchased diesel.
What if there is regular diesel fuel in the tank already?
You can blend your homemade biodiesel with any amount of regular diesel fuel.
How do I get restaurants to be willing to give me their used fry oil?
Most restaurants have to pay to have their used fry oil removed. Just call a few of your local restaurants and ask the owner if you can take away their used fry oil at no charge to them. Since every gallon of used fry oil you take saves them the cost of removal, most places will be happy to give you the used fry oil. Because this unit is mobile, you only have to transfer the oil once.
Is biodiesel better for the environment?
YES! Biodiesel is recycled, used oil and it burns much cleaner, saving our environment.
How much does it cost per gallon using my personal biodiesel processor?
The actual amount will depend on the supplies you use, but you can figure about .70 to .90 per gallon.
Can I use anything other the used restaurant fryer oil?
Yes! You can also use non-food grade soy oil.
Why do I want this unit to be portable?
Good question! The advantage of a portable unit is two-fold. You can tow your unit to local restaurants to pick up their used fryer oil (eliminating a few transfer steps); and you easily move the unit on your property should you need your garage or barn for something else. Since you can pump from the unit to the car, tractor, etc, you can tow the unit to the source (for example a tractor out in a field).
Another reason for making this portable is for towing the unit to friends and family who wish to benefit from your homemade biodiesel processor. Educators will want to bring this classic educational tool to school with them for demonstrations and learning opportunities.
Why do I want a set of plans as opposed to an e-Book which can be digitally emailed to me in a matter of seconds?
Even with a laptop, building your biodiesel processor is easier if you have a large set of plans laid out in front of you while you work. Trying to look at a small computer screen is more complex and time consuming than using a printed set of plans. In addition, most home printers cannot handle such a large print job, or hold the large paper required for most sets of plans.
What is the processing tank made of?
The processing tank is made of stainless steel (which will last about a year before needing a new one). The processing tank has a built in thermometer and built in heating elements.
What is a wash tank?
The wash tank has the capability of either “mist washing” or “bubble washing” the fuel. There is a heavy duty 110 volt self-priming pump build in. This is connected to manifolds allowing you to transfer fluids from the wash tank to the processing tank with ease.
What does B100 mean?
B100 stands for 100 percent biodiesel. B50 means the product is 50 percent biodiesel.
What else do I need?
Everything you need to get started will be included in the plans. Plans come with easy to follow instructions and formulas, along with a parts list, part numbers and contact information for suppliers. When the plans arrive at your door you have everything you need to start building your homemade biodiesel processor.
How many pages are in the plans?
There are 43 pages of plans. We tried to make this as simple as possible. Anything more than 43 pages is more complicated than it needs to be.
Since there is a processing tank and a wash tank, can I run two batches at once?
Yes and No. You cannot start two batches simultaneously, however you can start the second batch about 5 hours after the first batch is transferred to the wash tank.
