How Much Will it Cost to Build my own Xzilarator?
The Xzilarator as shown on this website, cost approximately $3,500 USD (plus the bike) to build and make street legal. This number can fluctuate in either direction. The final cost depends greatly on the parts you use to build your own Xzilarator. For example, you may find seats inexpensively on the web for about $100. USD, while others may wish to spend $500. USD on seats. The same goes for headlights, steering wheels, etc.
Do the Xzilarator plans require a Gold Wing 1500 or can any Gold Wing work?
Bob Kinney has only used 1500 Gold Wing’s as donors. They have plenty of power lots of torque and have gearing most suitable for this kind of trike. They were made from 1988 to 2000 and are plentiful. As an added bonus, Gold Wing’s have reverse. In short Bob Has picked the best donor possible. The only one better would be the 1800 Gold Wing, but they are pricy.
How Long Will it Take me to Build my Xzilarator?
Bob Kinney built the original Xzilarator in 10 weeks. While he worked on this full time, he spent a great deal of time on design and engineering. The length of time it takes you to build your Xzilarator will depend on how much time you put into the project each day.
Can I Use Bent Tubing to Eliminating Some of the Joints?
You can use bent tubing if you want, but most people don't have a bender so the plans don't require one.
Can I Visit Mr. Kinney's Shop?
Sorry but the original is not located in PA any longer where Mr. Kinney works. Unfortunately we do not allow visitors in the machine shop while Mr. Kinney is working, or any other time.
I Don't Have Room To Build My Own. Can I Buy Items Built?
Sorry but we can't sell them pre-made. Just the plans are available. Try your local High School or Tech School and ask their automotive department if the students would be interested in building a Xzilarator or Kinney HRH for their class project.
What Is Your Phone Number?
Sorry but we don't give out Bob's number. All questions and comments must go through this website (see "Contact Us" above) or by emailing Xzilarator@yahoo.com. We will answer all of your questions.
Can I Call Bob's Daughter? I See Her Website Is Linked.
No. Please submit all questions through this website or via email. Bob's daughter is responsible for the content on this website, marketing, and promotions as she is a freelance writer (hence her website). Calling her will not get your question answered.

It is one of those beautiful, sunny early spring days in south central Pennsylvania. The warm air on your face melts away the snowy memories of winter. The birds are announcing their return from their southern migration with chirps and whistles. The tranquility of nature is broken with the distant sound of a silky smooth engine being put through its paces. Suddenly, around the corner comes something so unusual it causes you stop and stare. The exotic beauty is like nothing you have ever seen before. It is very low to the ground with sleek lines that cheat the wind. The sporty blue paint sparkles in the sun light. The bi-wing in the back looks like a requirement to keep the car from taking off and flying through the air. The driver and passenger both have huge smiles on their faces. Before the sleek, exotic beauty disappears into the landscape, you notice that this amazing “car” has only three wheels.
The Xzilarator is an exotic three wheeled motorcycle that is home built from plans that can be ordered from: www.xzilarator.com. It can be powered by a 1500-1800cc Honda Goldwing although the 1500cc Goldwing will provide more than enough power for spirited driving. The solid disc brakes will provide adequate stopping power for the light (1250 pound) reverse trike. There are aftermarket suppliers who make upgrade kits for the Fiero suspension and brakes. If you are not satisfied with the stock suspension, you can upgrade to tubular control arms with coil over shocks. The stock brakes can easily be upgrades to ventilated discs of the same diameter or to larger discs and calipers.
Driving the Xzilarator is like nothing else you have ever experienced. The driver and passenger sit very low in two race car like seats. You sit so low that you can hang your hang out the side and touch the road. Because of the extremely low center of gravity, the Xzilarator can take turns at unbelievable speeds. A four point racing harness ensures the occupants stay put in high speed turns. The low seating position gives you a unique perspective on the road ahead and the world around you. From the driver’s seat, the road feels right at your feet as it rushes toward you. From the passenger seat, you can watch the Fiero’s suspension move up and down as the Xzilarator obediently follows the contours of the road.
The best part about driving the Xzilarator is the smiles. You and your passenger will both have big smiles are you drive through corners as never before. The people you pass will have smiles as they stare in amazement at the three wheel exotic wonder as it speeds by. Whenever you are stopped, people will smile and come up and ask the required question, “What on earth is that thing?” You can just smile back and say, “It’s an Xzilarator.”
